Kaizer Chiefs were forced to share the spoils with Bloemfontein Celtic after playing out to a 0-0 draw at the FNB Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Saturday, writes DYLAN APPOLIS.

The Glamour Boys showed their intent early on and nearly opened the scoring after four minutes when Leonardo Castro forced Patrick Tignyemb into producing a fine save to deny his strike from inside the area.

Wiseman Meyiwa had a chance to put his side ahead, but he failed to trouble Tignyemb with his free-kick as the scoreline remained goalless.

Amakhosi came close to breaking the deadlock in the 30th minute after Siyabonga Ngezana latched on to the ball from a corner, but he was unable to direct his header towards the target.

Castro had a chance to hand his side the lead six minute from the half time interval, but the striker couldn’t steer his volley towards goal as his effort sailed over the target from close range.

Tignyemb was called into action eight minutes into the second half when he produced a fine save to deny Meyiwa’s effort from outside the box.

Deon Hotto nearly put his side ahead when he made his way through on goal before firing an effort at goal, but Itumeleng Khune was on hand to deny the forward.

The home side had an opportunity to take the lead in the 72nd minute when Ryan Moon unleashed a powerful strike, but Tignyemb did enough to parry his effort away from the target.

Daniel Cardoso nearly found the back of his own net after his header rattled the woodwork with Tignyemb left rooted to the spot.

However, neither side were able to find the winning goal in the closing stages of the game as they played out to a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium.
