Kaizer Chiefs extend winless streak

Kaizer Chiefs v AmaZulu

Kaizer Chiefs host AmaZulu in an Absa Premiership encounter at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening, writes MARSHALL GOUTS.

The visitors started the brighter of the two teams and should have went ahead, however former Chiefs winger Ovidy Karuru proved wasteful in his efforts, despite being put through on goal twice.

Chiefs eventually settled as the game went on and looked particularly dangerous through the overlapping runs of Ramahlwe Mphahele.

Teenage Hadebe came closest to breaking the deadlock in the 31st minute when he rose highest to head Siphiwe Tshabalala’s ball into the area, however goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro’s tipped the powerful effort onto the crossbar.

Siyethemba Mnguni came close to opening the scoring with a fine 25-yards volley, however his effort narrowly missed the effort as the two sides went into the half-time break with the scores deadlocked at 0-0.

The home side continued to probe and made an attacking substitution in search of the goal as Hendrick Ekstein replaced Wiseman Meyiwa in the 49th minute.

Komphela made another change three minutes later as Bernard Parker made way for Ryan Moon.

Chiefs did all the attacking, but could not find a way past Murambadoro, who made a number of telling saves.

Chiefs opted for all-out attack as Siphelele Ntshangase replaced Philani Zulu late on, however for all their efforts, Amakhosi could not find a way past Usuthu and were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw.
