Baxter to broaden pool of players
- Updated: June 11, 2017

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter says he is creating a pool of players that is of paramount importance when they take on Zambia in an international friendly match on Tuesday.
The South African National Team got their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign off to a winning start, after securing a 2-0 victory over Nigeria in their opening Group E encounter.
The Senior National Team coach insists that he will field a youthful squad for their international friendly match.
“The international friendly match gives me an opportunity to blend in some of the promising youngsters, since Vision 2022 entails maintaining sustainable success,” Baxter told Safa.net.
“I will take this opportunity to ‘throw in’ some of those players that didn’t take part in Saturday’s game.
“I am looking forward to identifying a pool of players for the senior national team assignments, and this game will give me that opportunity to start identifying that pool of players.
“I know a win is crucial, but the bottom line is creating a pool of players.”
Bafana Bafana will next take on Zambia in an international friendly match at the Moruleng Stadium on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:00.
