• New Chiefs signings feature in pre-season defeat

    New Kaizer Chiefs’ signings Kearyn Baccus, Lazarous Kambole and Samir Nurkovic all started while James Koeti was on the bench as Amakhosi fell to a 2-1 defeat in a pre-season friendly clash with Township Rollers in Botswana.

    Ernst Middendorp’s men continued their preparations for the 2019/20 season with a friendly against Rollers on Saturday afternoon.

    The Soweto giants got off to the perfect start with vetran Bernard Parker hitting the back of the net with just 2 minutes gone.

    It didn’t though take the team from Botswana too long to respond as Kaone Vanderwesthuizen capatlised on defensive mix-up before firing past Bvuma from close range to level matters with 27 minutes gone.

    Chiefs the rang the changes at the break as Siphelele Ntshangase, Dumisani Zuma, Willard Katsande, Lorenzo Gordinho and Leonardo Castro were all brought on.

    It was however the home side who bagged the next goal as Orebonye finished from close to give his side the lead with 30 minutes to go.

    The Soweto giants couldn’t find another goal in the remaining minutes as they suffered defeat in Botswana.

    Chiefs will no switch their attention to Saturdays Carling Black Label Cup against rivals Orlando Pirates.
