Hlatshwayo wins big at Wits awards

Bidvest Wits captain Thulani Hlatshwayo was rewarded for a brilliant season as he scooped up the club’s Player of the Season and Player’s Player of the season awards.
After leading The Clever Boys to their maiden Absa Premiership title, in addition to being handed the captain’s armband for Bafana Bafana, the former Ajax Cape Town man’s dream season continued as he clinched the club’s two biggest awards on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old, who has also been nominated for the PSL’s Player of the Season award, admits that this is the first time that he has received accolades for his exploits.
‘Ever since I have been playing‚ from amateur football‚ I have never won an award,’ he said.
‘But I knew my time would come. And now it has‚’ Tyson concluded.
Other award winners included South Africa U20 international Reeve Frosler, who picked up the Young Player of the Season award after he did well to deputise for the injured Nazeer Allie during their title-winning campaign.
