Jonevret eyes top eight spot
- Updated: May 23, 2017

Orlando Pirates coach Kjell Jonevret insists the Sea Robbers will fight for a place in the top eight of the Absa Premiership until the last day of the season.
The Buccaneers are set to take on Abafana Bes’thende for the second time in the space of a week, having already beaten them 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
They currently occupy 11th place in the Absa Premiership standings with 33 points and have won just six out of 29 matches played so far this season, with one match remaining.
The 54-year-old coach insists that his side will fight until the last day in the hopes of securing a top a spot in the Absa Premiership campaign, to maintain their record of being the only club to finish in the top eight each season.
‘What do you say, it’s not over until the day the lady sings but I don’t know if the fat lady has sung,’ Jonevret told KickOff.com.
‘But of course we should go and try and win the game again and we’ll have to wait and see. I still think we should have won against Ajax Cape Town in the last league game and there we had a really good chance.
‘But we’ll enjoy going to the final [of the Nedbank Cup], train a few days and see what happens, but this will help in the way.’
The match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
