• Khune set to miss the remainder of the season

    Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a major injury blow with coach Ernst Middendorp confirming that goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign due to injury.

    The Soweto giants marked their first encounter in 2019 with a 2-1 loss to fellow rivals Mamelodi Sundowns at a packed FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

    Middendorp suffered his first defear at the helm of Amakhosi, with the winner being scored by Lebohang Maboe following a terrible mistake by deputy goalkeeper Virgil Vries.

    Khune missed Chiefs’ first-leg Caf Confederation Cup clash against Elgeco Plus as well as the 1-0 victory against SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.

    In the aftermath of the loss to Masandawana, the German tactician confirmed that the Bafana number one will play no further part in the remainder of the campaign due to a shoulder injury.
