Mathoho to miss Wits clash
- Updated: May 24, 2017

Kaizer Chiefs have revealed that defender Erick Mathoho has been ruled out for their final Absa Premiership clash against Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
The 27-year-old sustained a concussion during his side’s 2-0 defeat against Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on 17 May, and was excluded from Amakhosi’s training session on Tuesday.
Chiefs’ physio David Milner confirmed that Mathoho was involved in a collision to the head with Dikwena forward Bonginkosi Ntuli.
‘We observed him after the collision. ‘We gave him a few minutes in the second half, but had to substitute him (55’) as a precaution,’ Milner told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
The Glamour Boys Medical team also confirmed that Sibusiso Khumalo limped off the field during Monday’s training session with a knee injury, and will not be made available for selection against Wits.
‘Sbu is still struggling with his knee injury. We will continue to assess him, but he will not take part in the Wits game on Saturday,’ he added.
Meanwhile, Siyanda Xulu has also been ruled out of this Saturday’s match after suffering a groin strain, while Brilliant Khuzwayo is in the process of recovery. “We are happy with Khuzwayo’s progress to full fitness,” reported Milner. The goalkeeper is making a return from ankle surgery.
‘We are happy with Khuzwayo’s progress to full fitness,’ Milner concluded.
Kaizer Chiefs against Bidvest Wits kicks off at 15:00.
