SuperSport exercise Daniels’ contract option
- Updated: June 4, 2017

SuperSport United have confirmed that the club have exercised the one-year option in defender Clayton Daniels’ contract to extend his stay at Matsatsantsa.
The 31-year-old has netted two goals and assisted a further one from 30 appearances in all competitions during the 2016-17 season for Matsatsantsa.
Daniels insists that he was hoping for a longer deal at the club, but says he is grateful towards the club, who has shown faith in him by extending his stay at Matsatsantsa.
“Club had an option and they took it on 31 May,” Daniels told KickOff.com.
“It’s for a season long, yeah. Well I’m happy and grateful for that yes, but things can always be better.
“Well I was hoping for a longer term and to secure myself with the club, but I’m really grateful for the faith they show in me, and well we still gonna negotiate.”
The Bafana Bafana defender played a crucial role in helping his side secure a fifth-place finish in the Absa Premiership as they finished their campaign with 48 points, 12 points behind champions Bidvest Wits.
