SuperSport support for Phala after abuse allegations
- Updated: July 7, 2017

SuperSport United have supported midfielder Thuso Phala, after allegations of abuse by him.
The 31-year-old has recently come into the spotlight after allegations surfaced on social media claiming that the midfielder had abused a woman, who has already allegedly pressed charges with the South African Police Service against him.
Eric Tinkler’s side has since shown their support for Phala, who has denied the claims of abuse, while the club also condemns any form of violence against women and children,
“SuperSport United has become aware of allegations of abuse circulating on social media involving Thuso Phala,” a club’s statement reads.
“The club has spoken to the player, who denies the allegations and has sought legal advice against these defamatory allegations.
“SuperSport United will let the law take its course, suffice to say that the club condemns violence of any form, especially against women and children.”
Phala, who helped Matsatsantsa to a fifth-place finish in the Absa Premiership, went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions during the 2016-17 campaign, while netting eight goals and assisting a further six in the process.
