Williams pens SuperSport extension

Orlando Pirates chances of signing Ronwen Williams has been dealt a massive blow, with the goalkeeper signing a five-year extension at SuperSport United.
The Bafana Bafana international is a one-man club, having joined the Matsatsantsa academy in 2005, before securing promotion to the first team as a teenager in the 2011-12 campaign.
Williams could look to cement his place among the greats of the club, and aged 25, he is currently the longest-serving player at the club as he inches closer to 200 games played.
SuperSport took to their various social media platforms to publicise the extension of Williams’ contract, with club CEO Stan Matthews highlighting that Ronwen is the first player ever to receive a five-year deal.
“This is the first time we have given a player a straight five-year deal and Ronwen thoroughly deserves it,” he said.
“He has worked his way through the ranks from the age of 12, putting in many years of hard work in our academy and now in our first team.
“In a day and age when player loyalty is a rare commodity, we are delighted to reward Ronwen for his dedication and excellent performances at the club, both on and off the field of play,” he concluded.
Williams has four trophies under his belt during his stay at the club, having clinched the Nedbank Cup on three occasions in addition to the Telkom Knock-Out title.
