SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams says their Caf Confederations Cup clash against TP Mazembe will prepare them for their Nedbank Cup finals against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Matsatsantsa have a tough week ahead as they welcome TP Mazembe to the Lucas Moripe Stadium before taking on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup finals on Saturday.

SuperSport currently tops Group D after three rounds of fixtures, level on five points with TP Mazembe and Horoya, who sits in second and third place respectively.

The 25-year-old believes the Ravens will be out to redeem themselves after holding them to a 2-2 draw in the previous fixture between the two sides.

“I am sure they are still disappointed because the game at their home ground, their fans turned against them and started cheering for us,” Williams told the SuperSport United website.

“Obviously, that didn’t sit well with them and they will come here and be eager to get one back over us.

“But we are going to be rock solid. This is perfect preparation for us heading into this weekend’s clash – we are just going to go out there and do our best.”

Meanwhile, SuperSport striker Jeremy Brockie insists that facing Mazembe before the Nedbank Cup finals will strengthen their odds of coming out victorious over the Buccaneers.

“It is taxing to play Mazembe and Pirates within five days,” Brockie said.

“But facing a strong team like Mazembe before the cup final is good for us.”

SuperSport United against TP Mazembe kicks off at 19:00.
