• Lorch excited ahead of first final at Pirates

Orlando Pirates winger Thembinkosi Lorch has revealed his joy at having a shot at winning his first piece of silverware at the club when they take on Baroka FC in the Telkom Knockout final on Saturday.

The Buccaneers have not picked up a trophy in four-years and success over Baroka on Saturday will not only see Lorch, and number of other Pirates players, win their first piece of professional silverware but they would also end that much talked about trophy-drought.

Lorch has been one of the stand out players in the competition as he has bagged a tournament high three goals. The pacey winger scored two against AmaZulu and one against arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs to top the TKO scoring charts.

The 25-year-old will certainly be one of the players up for the Player of the Tournament, but he is only worried about his team’s success and not his own.

‘I have not won a trophy in the PSL,’ said Lorch in an interview with KickOff.com.

‘Obviously I am happy that we are in the final and I think winning the trophy will boost my confidence for the second round of the season.

‘I am happy that the team is in the final and we have a chance to win a trophy for the first time in a long time.’

Lorch was just one of the names on a list which included with the likes of Xola Mlambo, Vincent Pule and Happy Jele, who were rested as the side travel to Seychelles for the CAF Champions League match against Light Stars on Wednesday.

Orlando Pirates and Baroka will do battle in the TKO final on Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, with kick-off at 6pm.
